Memphis Fence Pros has been installing and repairing fences across Memphis and the surrounding area since 2009. Whether you need a new wood privacy fence, vinyl, chain link, ornamental metal, or an automatic driveway gate, we handle the work with the same crew from start to finish.

Homeowners in Midtown, Germantown, Collierville, and throughout the Memphis area call us because we show up on time, we price honestly, and we know how to build a fence that stands up to what this region throws at it. We're fully insured, and we're an AFA Member Installer with the American Fence Association.

Fencing for Memphis Properties

Memphis homeowners face real challenges when it comes to fencing. Property lines in Midtown and nearby neighborhoods often run tight, with mature oaks, sweetgums, and hackberries crowding the fence line. Storm damage is a genuine concern here, and we've rebuilt plenty of wood fence runs that came down hard. The lots themselves vary widely, from narrow shotgun-style properties to larger craftsman homes on sloped ground, which means every fence job needs a plan that fits the site.

We've been working in Memphis since 2009. We know the neighborhoods, we understand what the city and county permit offices require, and we've handled everything from simple post replacement to full fence removal and new installation on difficult terrain. Our team is fully insured with general liability and workers' compensation coverage.

How a Fence Project Works

Step 1: Free on-site assessment. Call us at (901) 612-2383 or reach out online. We'll come look at your property, discuss what you need, walk the fence line, and talk through material options and cost. We'll also verify that you have a clear survey or that you and your neighbor agree on the line. Before any digging starts, Tennessee law requires a utility locate through 811, and we handle that.

Step 2: The work. Whether we're installing new fence, repairing storm damage, replacing rotted posts, or hanging a gate, the same crew does the job. We set posts in concrete or tamp them depending on the application and soil conditions. We measure post spacing carefully, rack or step the fence where the ground slopes, and install cap and trim to protect the wood or vinyl. For chain link, we tension the mesh properly and install stretcher bars and tension bands to keep it tight and square. For gates, we hang them plumb, check that they swing freely, and install self-closing and self-latching hardware where you want it.

Step 3: Cleanup and walkthrough. We haul our scrap and debris, we leave your property clean, and we walk you through the finished work. If you need documentation for insurance or anything else, we can help.

Fence pricing in Memphis depends on the material, the length of the run, site access, and what the ground looks like. Wood and privacy fence typically starts at $24 per linear foot. Vinyl runs from $34 per linear foot. Chain link is our most affordable option at $15 per linear foot, and ornamental metal or aluminum starts at $39 per linear foot. Repairs start at $425, and post replacement or gate work starts at $450. Automatic driveway gates start at $2,600. Storm damage assessment is free. For a realistic estimate tailored to your property and what you want to build, call us at (901) 612-2383 and we'll schedule a site visit.

Do I need a permit to install a fence in Memphis?
Permit rules vary across Memphis and the surrounding county. Height limits, setback requirements, and material rules are set by the local building department and can differ from one jurisdiction to another. Some areas require a permit and some don't. Master-planned communities and HOAs often have their own architectural standards for fence height, material, and color. Before we start, we recommend checking with your local building department or HOA. We work from your existing survey and install on the line you identify, and we'll coordinate with any required approvals.
A storm knocked down a section of my fence. Can you help?
Yes. We do storm damage fence repair and full replacement when needed. Call us at (901) 612-2383 and we'll come assess the damage at no charge. We can help you document the damage for an insurance claim if you have one. We'll give you an honest quote for repair or replacement, and we'll explain which option makes more sense. Storm damage work is fully insured.
What's the difference between setting fence posts in concrete and tamping them?
Posts set in concrete are bedded in a concrete footer below the frost line, which anchors them against heave and movement. Tamped posts are set in the ground and compacted with earth or gravel, which works well for many applications but relies on good soil contact and regular maintenance. We choose the method based on your fence type, the soil, and what the job requires. For a privacy fence or gate that bears load, concrete is the standard. For farm or ranch fencing, tamping often works fine. We'll recommend what's right for your situation.
I have a pool. What fencing do I need?
Pool fencing must meet local pool barrier codes set by state law and local ordinance. Pool fence is installed to meet those codes, and the final determination of compliance rests with the authority having jurisdiction, which is usually your city or county building department. We install pool fence properly, but you should verify the specific height, material, and gate requirements with your local building official before we start. A pool fence is a barrier, not a substitute for supervision.
My neighbor's fence is leaning toward my property. What do I do?
A leaning fence is often a sign of rotted posts, loose concrete footers, or posts that have shifted. If it's your neighbor's fence, the repair is their responsibility. If it's on your property line and you both want it fixed, you can share the cost or one of you can pay for the repair. If it's your fence, we can assess whether posts can be reset or braced, or whether replacement is the better option. Call us at (901) 612-2383 and we'll give you an honest assessment.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We carry general liability and workers' compensation insurance. We can provide a certificate of insurance on request.
Can you install an automatic driveway gate?
Yes. We install automatic and driveway gates starting at $2,600. We can also repair existing gates that are dragging, off their hinges, or not closing properly. Gates can be set up with a cantilever or V-track system depending on your driveway, and we install the gate operator and hardware so everything works smoothly. Call us at (901) 612-2383 to discuss your gate project.
